Cincinnati Thermal Spray, Inc. (CTS) provides coatings for wear, corrosion, erosion, abrasion, and thermal conductivity with their foundation in 1979 supporting the aviation industry. CTS has expanded their capabilities over the years to provide services to the land-based turbine, steel, and medical markets and established a culture of focusing on providing industry-leading service and technical solutions for valued customers.
The general manager at CTS already knew about emotional intelligence (EQ) and sought to provide his tenured, high-performing executive team with practical emotional intelligence skill development to help support business growth and promote an overall cultural change aligned with emotional intelligence philosophies.
TalentSmart consultants designed an 18-month multi-method emotional intelligence development effort for his executive team. Combining 360° feedback from their CTS colleagues, each executive sat down with a TalentSmart executive coach to discuss the emotional intelligence scores and feedback. The executive team attended a series of emotional intelligence in leadership sessions separated throughout the year by monthly executive coaching sessions to apply what the executives were learning individually and collectively. Nine months into the process, they were guided through a team emotional intelligence assessment and executive session to address how emotional intelligence operates at the leadership group level. After the one-year mark, a second round of 360° assessment and feedback provided each executive with objective feedback and the opportunity to discuss progress made over the year.
