  • La Jolla
Nestled in a cove by the Pacific coast, La Jolla is located just 13 miles from the airport, about a 20 – 30 minute drive from downtown San Diego. La Jolla offers a Mediterranean climate that varies between 50 and 90° Fahrenheit and 10 and 32° Celsius. The charming business district provides one-of-a-kind boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. La Jolla's big draw is the sea. From July to October, the surf is relatively gentle, the water is warm, and the beaches at La Jolla Shores and the Cove are busy with swimmers, scuba divers, and surfers. In the winter and spring, the coast takes on an ominous mood with billowing fog and powerful winter surf crashing on the rocks. The May Gray and June Gloom are local terms referring to the overcast fog present in the mornings that burns off by midafternoon.

  • The Grande Colonial Hotel
In the quaint center of La Jolla is the Grande Colonial Hotel. Just a block from the beach, the hotel's panoramic ocean views and sounds of the sea create an escape for the mind and soul. The Grande Colonial Hotel is a historic beauty that honors its traditions yet offers contemporary amenities and services. Built in 1913, the Grande Colonial has recently renovated its 93 rooms. And the award-winning NINE-TEN Restaurant at the Grande Colonial Hotel boasts nationally acclaimed chefs, California cuisine, and a Wine Spectator—recognized wine list. The facilities include a pool, patio chairs for reading, and indoor and outdoor dining, and the hotel is within walking distance of world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment. The Grande Colonial Hotel is only a short drive away from golfing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, biking, and walking.

  • San Diego Area Attractions
The hotel is just 15 – 30 minutes by car from some of the most popular attractions in California. Visit theme parks like the world-famous San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park, Sea World, and LEGOLAND. Catch a game at PetCo Park, home of the Padres, or at Qualcomm Stadium to watch the Chargers. Discover the sights and sounds of downtown San Diego, visit our world class beaches, or hike Cabrillo National Monument and Torrey Pines State Park.
